Tzafona Cellars ‘Cold Climate’ Riesling 2014 VQA Niagara Peninsula 12.0% alcohol
The opening vintage of this ‘Kosher-for-Passover’ Riesling offers subdued aromas of orchard fruit, citrus and mineral. Off dry, light-medium bodied, the flavours are true to the nose, wrapping around a core of clean acidity. The mineral quality persists through the mid-length finish. Serve with seafood or soup. Tzafona Cellars ‘Cold Climate’ Riesling 2017 VQA Niagara Peninsula 12.0% alcohol
This kosher-certified, aromatic, cold-climate white can’t hide its identity—intense petrol aromas shading ripe pear, mature apple and mineral notes. It’s just on the cusp of off-dry with 15g/L of residual sugar and medium acidity, this flows on the palate with flavours of ripe orchard fruit, honey, a hint of ginger and an interesting saline note showing on the finish and aftertaste. Medium-bodied, pour now alongside quiche Lorraine. Louise Boutin
An unoaked Chard showing Golden Delicious apples and pear aromas, repeated on palate with slight buttery caramel and a creamy texture. Jane Staples
